Oui Can Talk – Therapy

Supporting Teen & Student

Life as a student is full of opportunities and challenges. Whether you’re navigating academics, friendships, or your personal goals, therapy offers a safe, non-judgmental space to explore your thoughts and feelings, develop skills, and grow into the best version of yourself.

Why Students Benefit from Therapy
Students face unique pressures, from balancing studies and social life to managing emotions and making decisions about the future.

Therapy provides a supportive space to:

A Collaborative Process

Therapy is tailored to you and your needs, with a focus on what matters most to your life. For teens and younger students, parents may be included as part of the process, ensuring a supportive home environment to complement the progress made in therapy.

Preparing teen for therapy is important, and if discussing mental health is challenging. Contact me to get advice on how to discuss therapy with your child. We can think about it together.

You must be aware that I have to keep a confidential aspect in therapy with anyone. You might feel  unsettled by the quietness or the 'not knowing' what's going on during your child's therapy. I'm here for you to talk about it.

Therapy for Adults

Life is complex. Whether you’re dealing with stress, navigating a major life shift, or simply feeling stuck, therapy provides a supportive space to pause, reflect, and grow. It’s not just about solving problems—it’s about understanding yourself and creating a life that feels fulfilling and balanced.

As adults, we face all kinds of challenges—emotional, relational, and situational. Therapy helps you make sense of these experiences by:

Therapy isn’t a one-size-fits-all process. It’s your space to slow down, explore, and grow at your own pace. Together, we’ll:

Therapy Outside

Walk and Talk therapy is a variation of traditional psychotherapy where sessions are conducted outdoors while walking. This approach has the benefits of movement and fresh air, which can enhance communication and mental well-being. Exercising has a well known positive impact on mental health because your body produces endorphins while walking. Discussing emotions outdoors can be easier for some persons, particularly those who prefer movement over static settings like a therapist’s office or virtual sessions. The method is particularly effective with teenagers and can help navigate challenging topics. Visual distractions during walks can promote engagement and deeper contemplation.

My clients often feel revitalised after a Walk and Talk session. If outdoor sessions aren’t suitable, traditional settings can be explored. Walk and Talk sessions are weather-dependent and can be rescheduled due to bad conditions. This therapy approach is available for teenagers and adults but not for children, couples, or families.

Prepped To Parent

In addition to individual therapy, I teach the Mental Health from Pregnancy to Postpartum class for The Labour Dept.‘s Prepped to Parent program. This program is designed for English-speaking pregnant couples in Amsterdam and The Hague, offering comprehensive support as they prepare for the journey of parenthood.

The class I lead focuses on the emotional and psychological changes that occur during pregnancy and after birth. Topics include:

  • Recognizing and managing perinatal mood changes, such as anxiety and depression.
  • Understanding the emotional impact of parenthood on relationships and self-identity.
  • Developing coping strategies for stress, overwhelm, and sleep deprivation.
  • Building mental resilience and self-compassion during the transition to parenting.

As part of Prepped to Parent, participants also gain access to a network of resources, weekly meetups, and expert-led discussions, creating a supportive environment for new and expecting parents. By equipping parents with tools for emotional well-being, this program ensures they are prepared not just physically, but mentally, for the challenges and joys of parenthood.

Blending my therapeutic expertise with the program’s holistic approach, I help parents build strong emotional foundations for themselves and their growing families. (thelabourdept.com)
